Trips and activities - Volary and surroundings
You can also enjoy great skiing on the Austrian side of the Bohemian Forest. Just a short distance from the border is the largest Austrian ski resort outside the Alps - Hochficht. The resort is located between the three peaks of Hochficht (Smrčina in Czech), Reischelberg (Hraničník in Czech) and Zwieselberg at an altitude of 930 to 1,338 m above sea level, which gives it good snow conditions. In addition, the whole area is covered with artificial snow.
The resort is especially popular with families with children, who can enjoy more than 20 km of quality ski slopes with difficulty levels ranging from blue (9 km) to red (9 km) to black (1 km). There is also a ski slope with lighting for night skiing. Cross-country skiers can enjoy up to 150 km of groomed ski tracks and there are also trails for winter hiking.
For the transport of winter sports fans, there is a ten-seater cable car, 3 four-seater lifts, 2 ski lifts and 2 mobile carpets. For children, there are 2 learning parks, the world's first comic slalom, amusement rides, as well as FIS tracks and a sledding slope. For families, groups and schools there are discounts in the area. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the resort and most of the staff speak Czech, even in the typical mountain huts where you can have a snack. Parking is free and ski pass holders can also charge their electric cars for free.
Summer at Hochficht
During the summer season, the resort turns into a base for hiking and cycling. Here you will find trails of all difficulties, both for hikers (over 600 km) and cyclists (1,000 km) with views of the surrounding beautiful nature. On the way by car you will come across a rope park in Schöneben.
